The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge was and still currently is one of the latest cutting edged devices, spliced together lovingly via the South Korean, Techno-Conglomerate, infamously that is Samsung. With eye catching smart sleek looks and overhaul in design, user-interface and craft. The device is not cheap to make and just under ten months ago was the Premium experimental flagship cream of the crop, and debatably the single most important Android Device last year. The Samsung Galaxy S6 + followed just after in it’s footprints (Which incidentally) Won and took home a CES innovation award this newly beginning tech year of 2016.

Depreciation

Costing between the range of £38-£55+ the S6 edge did leave a hefty dent in the wallet but was the best surgery money could buy. With the S7/edge released and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge already sailing on the VR event horizon, yesterday’s zenith in Smartphone Technology can be brought today, saving a huge £139.99 in sterling as the Samsung galaxy S6 drops in price on sale with EE until the 7th of April but is it worth all the hype?

Expectations

Samsung underestimated the demand for the original edge and so the company didn’t match the high demand in sales for 2015. This left some enticed and otherwise happy customers unable to place an order on the scarpered manufactured hot cakes. Now Samsung have seen how coveted the edge range seems to be, sales are expected to meet expectation this 2016 with the newer Samsung Galaxy S7 edge released and already destined for a silk pocket and catwalk tomorrow, is the Samsung Galaxy S6 not cut from the same cloth?

History & Sex Appeal

The curved edged design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge wasn’t the first slanted imagination of an immaculate curved sharpened display and device from Samsung. The Galaxy Note edge proudly bares that accomplished title and shadow. The S6/edge bore the new light and went one step further with a duel edged display. It looked as sexy as a wet red hot sports car in the LA sun, surrounded by a pool of beautiful half naked people. Yes the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge was that good, presumably endowing the owner with the cosmetic Medusa-like spell similar to the Lynx effect.

Drawbacks & Currency

It had some perceived drawbacks from the latter day SGS5 and brand new S7/edge There’s no removable battery or IP68 dust proof or water resistance, tied together with that there’s no reliable SD Card Slot, thus no expandable memory. With this in mind the S6/edge is availble in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variations, depending on your need and preference, this should be enough. Equipped with a fingerprint scanner for extra security, identification and digital transaction with Samsung Pay. Enabling pay over the counter with NFC a step further securely.

Memory Stacking

The latter-year device features DDR4 Ram which is more then twice – the speed of everything else in the flagship waters. This initially caused memory crashes and heat problems due to firmware issues, with Samsung rushing and working on the fly to eventually correct the glitch and settle the S6/edge as one of the fastest and innovative computing multitaskers available to date.

Multi-Tasking Ability

The multitasking ability of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is beyond what it’s ordinary sibling can achieve given it’s steep advantage of making use of those curved edges and the sides of the phone. Samsung utilized the design language of the edge, not just as a statement in design and innovation but as a stealth-like tillable notifications panel. The curve of the entire screen works toward this connectivity cure for all lighting up the screen in a user programmed colour coordinated flash of light which shines when one of your favorite contact is calling you.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge camera has won multiple blind camera tests, this doesn’t mean it’s the best of the best or that all tests are fair and scientific, but it does win the popularity contest and take sharp and beautiful pictures at 2160p even capturing and post processing pixel noise away in low light. Placing your finger on the camera will also double as a heart-rate monitor.

Like it’s competition, the edge can shoot in 4K and has HDR with Optical Imagining Stabilization, uncombed within a wide perceptive barely protruding f/1.9 28mm 16MP lens. The camera preforms well in a myriad of situations and can be further tweaked with professional downloads should you feel so inclined to use it manually. The 5MP front facing camera is also impressive with its capture limited to 1440p@30fps in auto HDR.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge was marketed as a premium tantalizing expensive alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S6. Both devices were released last year in April after being announced in March. The edge was the popular of the siblings and it’s easy to see why. It’s not a question of does style or taste matter, that should be self evident. It’s different and not mimicked by any other manufacturer on the market, it’s exclusive and only humbled by the newly released S7 series. The battery life is a conservative drain, with approximately three hours continuous screen time, you’ll be recharging Wireless with a wide range compatibility, overnight, or with a quick 50% charge using a Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger in thirty minutes. Multitasking is versatile and easy with the ability to split the screen with apps and leave them hovering as a minimized icon in the landscape of your background. An excellent award winning camera and device which was well worth it’s initial premium price and a bargain today, saving £139.99 off the asking price at EE it’s not a deal you can afford to miss!
